Blue Sky Thinking is a term that we’re all familiar with. It attaches itself to a known, present framework, trajectory or projection and leaps forward into the short to mid-term future. The problem is, that because of its firm ties to the present, Blue Sky Thinking can only leap so far.

Black Sky Thinking is pioneered by visionary scientist and innovator Rachel Armstrong.
Armstrong is a Black Sky Thinker, who is actively engaged in audacious, game changing projects, such as saving Venice from sinking into its muddy foundations, and growing the living interior of a Worldship. She, like other Black Sky Thinkers aims to solve some of the most threatening problems our world faces by seeking solutions in unlikely places – and reimagining the very matter in the toolbox.
